Chikungunya in Mauritius

As of 12 July 2026, a total of 6,675 confirmed cases of chikungunya have been reported from the islands of Mauritius (6,583) and Rodrigues (92) in 2026. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on chikungunya.

Chikungunya in Mauritius

On 2 April 2026, the Ministry of Health and Wellbeing reported a significant increase in chikungunya cases. At the time, 105 active cases were reported, particularly in the regions of Rose-Hill, Quatre-Bornes, and Roches Brunes. On May 14, 2026 the US CDC issued a Travel Alert regarding an increased risk of chikungunya to travellers visiting Mauritius.
